With the support of Wong Tai Sin District Council, Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Wong Tai Sin Hospital, Wong Tai Sin District Office and people from all walks of life, the "Wong Tai Sin District Healthy and Safe City" was founded on August 30, 2007, with the commitment to make Wong Tai Sin District a healthy, safe community.  We are a charitable organization (exempt from tax under section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance), which was admitted as a member of the “Alliance for Healthy Cities” by the World Health Organization (WHO) in October 2007  and accredited  as the world's 227th "International Safe Community" on January 29, 2011.

Our mission is to transform Wong Tai Sin District into a healthy, safe community with its own cultural and local characteristics.  Through collaboration with government departments, district councils, regional organizations, non-governmental and commercial institutions, a long-term goal is formulated to meet the needs of the community; to develop a series of sustainable programmes; and to build a healthy, safe and vibrant district.

To further promote the idea of “Safety, Health, Harmony and Care” and enhance public awareness of disease prevention and reduction of accidental injury, we will organize more related activities with different sectors in the district.

Our objectives are:

1. To make the local residents recognize the categorizations of healthiness including physical, mental, social and psychological health;

2. To arouse their initiatives of caring about the health and safety of the public and their own;

3. To encourage them to take preventive measures against diseases and disasters; and

4. To help them relieve the impact of diseases and disasters.
